I am a newbie to machining, but this was a deal I couldn't pass up. This machine is powered up and available for inspection. A year ago I picked up a Bridgeport (220V 1 HP) and a Hardinge HLV-H (440V 1HP) from my former employer which closed operations. Nearly every collet is Hardinge brand and many of them have never been used. There is a complete set of metric change gears for all metric threading pitches. Hardinge HLV-H Super Precision Tool Room Lathe, sn HLV-H-1146T, English Threading Feed, 11 in. This lathe comes with the pictured tooling, including 2 trays of 5C collets. The drive unit is now very smooth in all RPM ranges. The oiling lubrication system functions as it should as well. All the power feeds function as they should and the gearbox works as it should. I have ran and tested the lathe for several hours without issue. The bed plate on this lathe is in excellent condition. This machine is in good mechanical condition and is ready to be used right away. Removed, cleaned, & adjusted cross slide Replaced both bearings in drive unit counter-shaft Flushed fluid in apron-Replaced both bearings in AC electric motor The bearings require no adjustment and are permanently lubricated to operate at all rated. Replaced both motor and spindle drive belts with new USED-HARDINGE SUPER-PRECISION TOOLROOM LATHE Model HLV-H. 9 LIKE NEW LeBlond 19 x 120 engine lathe. I have done an initial cleaning and some general maintenance to the lathe which includes… Hardinge HLV-H EM Inch M from 1986 located in USA available on. The graduated dials on this machine are in metric units. Fernando Abad: 08:40:08: 12 forum posts 12 photos: Good morning, looking for information I see that the hardinge HLV-H-EM is configured to make metric and inch threads without the need for more gears, what a pity they do not manufacture all with this configuration, and there would be no need to be changing the gears, the plate of the HLV H EM is also different, greetings. I do not have a way to test if these scales are still working. At some point this machine had an Anilam DRO on it and all that is left now is the scales. It sat unused from 1991 up until I purchased it. This is a 1976 machine that has many late model features such as a tapered Hardinge spindle, wide bed plate with teflon lined carriage, ball bearing carriage rack gear and more.
This machine was purchased new by IBM in Austin, TX and was then sold to a company in Florida in 1991. Machine came from a college aside from the odd paint job it is a good running machine for the money. Will come with a toolpost & some collets. This is a good, tight, & original machine and has never been repainted or abused. Hardinge Model HLV-H 10 x 18 Precision Lathe. A quick re-wire and now I have ~2s stop times from low speed and ~6.5s from High speed with chuck :)
This morning I found, buried in among the 'JOG' parameters, in the Siemens VFD is an option to use the jog up/down ramp times instead of the normal ones switching between the two settings with one of the digital inputs. I thanked them for their help, but I won't be going down that road. They were kind enough to suggest an alternative an MM440 £467), Keypad (£28), Brake resistor (£112 - expensive, even for a big resistor, I think) and a class A filter (£61). I emailed Siemens for advice on adding a braking resistor, to allow the VFD to brake harder, unfortunately my model VFD does not have the brake transistor fitted, so I can't do that. Centre lathe graziano sag 20 - height of centers mm 280 x mm 2000 length. I fitted a 4 jaw chuck (so I can make a backplate for a 3jc) which exacerbated the braking time problem Essentially, the braking time for all speeds is determined by the time it takes from the highest speed, with the extra flying mass of the chuck I had to extend the brake time - I don't mind a ~6 second stop from 3000rpm, but the same from 125rpm is silly.
